Alessandro Zanoni, ‘Dust Never Sleeps #3’, 2015, Phinest

Dust Never Sleeps presents Shanghai as a state of mind, both dreamlike and limitless in its stillness. A composite geometry of neat lines pervades the whole series, it inhabits the urban space and substitutes the habitual crowd. A diffused white invades every layer of the images, mixing the monochromatic sky with the plaster dust raising from the omnipresent construction sites. Transformation, demolition and reconstruction dominate the urban scene; the human presence is rare and framed in an estranged dimension as an exception - sometimes slightly ironical - to the emptiness.
