About Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye

Before settling in Paris where she now lives and works, Turkish-born potter Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye trained in ceramic factories in Istanbul, Copenhagen, and Höhr-Grenzhausen. Though Siesbye is often referred to as a Minimalist, her small vessels, glazed in saturated pigments and adorned with delicate detailing around the lip, look less like modern works of art than they do ancient artifacts. The simplicity of design and perfection of proportion of Siesbye’s pieces give them a timeless quality and a surprising gravity.

Turkish, b. 1938, Istanbul, Turkey, based in Paris, France
