About Alex Beard

Ever since he was a child, the New Orleans-based artist Alex Beard has been fascinated by wildlife, leading him to explore different ways to represent animals through color and form. With an academic background in ink drawing and oil painting, Beard brings the wild to life on canvas. He practices abstract naturalism, which fuses “abstract lines with the golden ratio and the intrinsic way animals move in nature.” The artist works out of his studio and gallery in New Orleans, where he is also inspired by the vibrant nature of city life.
