About Alex Rennie

British artist Alex Rennie presents the familiar face of the city of London in an entirely new way. Referencing everything from construction sites and hazard signs to population statistics and graffiti, Rennie’s oil paintings remind the viewer of the fleeting nature of life in a constantly evolving city. His work evokes the sense that both human lives and the monuments we build often last a moment in comparison to the lifespan of the city. Rennie’s art also references dichotomies and ideas such as the temporary vs. the permanent, growth vs. decline, and community vs. isolation in the urban environment.
