About Alexander Ross

Alexander Ross begins his work by crafting three-dimensional Plasticine forms inspired by natural inanimate and animate objects like rocks and plants. He then photographs his models and manipulates the results in Photoshop before painting his alien-looking specimens in oil on canvas or drafting them in graphite, colored pencil, flash, and watercolor on paper. Vibrantly colored with a flat, graphic yet tactile quality, Ross's works reference Surrealism and artists like George Condo, Max Ernst, and Giorgio Morandi.
