Alexandrovsky Radio Plant, ‘SVG-K Radiogram Console’, 1940, Heritage Gallery

SVG-K radiogram which may be called a rarity at present has not only reflected technical achievements of its time but has become one of the symbols of the Soviet epoch. The presented SVG-K issued in 1940 is a unique model as the radiogram was munufactured under the order of one of the leading Soviet theatres — S. M. Kirov Leningrad Theatre of Opera and Ballet (Mariinsky Theatre). The radigram was to be gifted to M. I. Kalinin, Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, “All-Union Headman”. We should pay special attention to its decoration characteristic of so-called Stalin’s Empire style. The great historical and cultural importance of this radiogram proves that it should be recommended for purchase.
