Ali Hussein Merza is well-known for his thought-provoking installations. His work abstractly and fluently expresses feelings of isolation, where he uses the mailboxes as a metaphor for the loneliness one feels even when being amongst a crowd. Mailboxes are abrasively present in everyone’s lives, yet no one knows what is caged inside it.
Anxieties, secrets, loss?... Each mailbox carries a different substance and a distinctive depth. No one could fathom what lies on the inside but the sender of a letter and the person who receives it.
