About Alois Kronschlaeger

In his site-specific installations and sculptures, Alois Kronschlaeger reveals, as he writes, a “preoccupation with environment and light, as well as an interest in exploring time and space via geometry.” Light is a key component of many of Kronschlaeger’s works. In Spire (2011), for example, he filled three stories of an abandoned building in Michigan with a luminous, airy tower of wood and wire mesh, while for Gnomon Projections (1997-98) he crafted a sundial that mapped Earth’s orbit and atmospheric changes through a complex play of shadows and reflections.
