Amy Vensel, ‘FEASEL’, 2016, FRED.GIAMPIETRO Gallery

Much like a dream is an amalgamation of daily events, Amy Vensel’s abstract paintings are derived from disparate images and ideas she encounters — the ghosted figures in a surveillance photo, the brilliant hue of an indigo bunting, or the gritty distortion in a Sigur Ros song. Vensel studied art and design at Syracuse University and the Silvermine School of Art, and was the winner of the Wofsey Award at the 2013 Faber Birren National Color Award Show.
