Andre Dienes was born in 1913 in Turia, Transylvania, today a part of Romania.
After his mother's tragic death, at the age of 15 he left for Europe by foot (a bit like what Brancusi would have done) and landed up in Tunisia and did odd jobs.
He bought his first Retina 35 mm camera and developed a taste for photography. He came to Paris in 1933.
His job led him to meet Edward Molyneux, a known CEO famous for Capitaine Molyneux perfumes and a suggestion to cross the Atlantic, to go and work for major fashion magazines like Vogue; Life, Esquire…
In 1944, he settled down in Hollywood to do (glamor) studio photography: Brando, Fonda, Reagan, Liz Taylor...
