Originally from Canton, China, Andrew Lui moved to Canada in 1972. Lui now lives and works in Montreal, Québec. He studied art in Italy, the United Kingdom and Canada from 1972 to 1975. His painting career started in the early 1980s and his work is now internationally exhibited. Lui is part of a large number of private and corporate collections in the US, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Vienna, Budapest, Stuttgart, China, Indonesia, Italy and Japan. Loose, bold colourful strokes energetically combine with line to suggest forms – often horses and figures – undulating between foreground and background to express the narrative.
