This was Warhol's last series of pictures, commissioned by Mercedes on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the motor car. As the artist put the brand Mercedes-Benz in the context of art, in the context of the “Warhol aura” he managed to bring together two high-class products. The name Warhol has a “mythic” attraction within the context of arts, just as the brand Mercedes-Benz in its context, which has—symbolized by the star—a constant field of connotations in the consumer society of the 20th century: beautiful, fast, modern, high-quality.
This beautiful colorful print was printed in 2007 and fully authorized by the Warhol Foundation. It is numbered 6/500 to 138/500 in pencil and has an embossed signature on the lower right. It comes already framed in a gorgeous hand finished burled wood frame. This image was never released as prints during Warhol's lifetime so these are the only official print versions of this image and very hard to find.
