Angelica Teuta, ‘Innermost nature. Exercise #1’, 2016, Kasia Michalski Gallery

Innermost nature exercises are abstractions of a symbolic forest. Colorful translucent vinyl plates are recovered from the artist's larger architectural pieces. The material is converted into layers of bushes, stalks, stems and falling leaves. According to Taschen's Book of Symbols (2010), "The forest, with its exotic forces, is 'outside' the inhabited precincts of consciousness, as village, city, household or castle. But the boundaries are often depicted as tenuous; many tales begin with the protagonist living 'at the edge of a forest'."
