About Angelina Nasso

Angelina Nasso creates illusory paintings through her free application of color, applying pigment in jagged and runny streaks and precise dots that fuse Clyfford Still’s brand of Abstract Expressionism with pointillism. “The spacey and smeary optical dazzle is embodied in thick, glossy paint, creating an elegant dialogue between abstraction and illusionism,” wrote Ken Johnson of her work. Inspired by the natural world, her blurred fields of color abstract her source into chromatic juxtapositions and phantasms of luminous tones, sometimes resembling cellular networks and acting as metaphors for human interconnectedness with the universe.
