French artist Anne-Lise Coste articulates with spray painted acrylic, often impulsively applied. Influenced by the likes of Ives Klein, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso, Coste creates an interplay of objects, words, and images that reference these artists and critique society and the self. Though her gestural works are often characterized by textual repetition or monochromatic color schemes, she is noted for the freedom of expression she finds within her chosen visual language.
