Auguste Leroux, ‘Souscrivez’, 1916, ArtWise

First edition vintage poster of French WWI propaganda (1914-1919). Wartime posters were mostly used to recruit men to the military cause. Many posters commonly urged wartime thrift, and were vocal in seeking funds from the general public via subscription to various war bond schemes (usually with great success). This poster is asking to subscribe to the third bond for the national defense. The lithograph measures 46 1/2 x 34 inches.
