Elements of cultural production and nightmares from high school years are merged in this composition. Here, a character dressed in an impressively decorated jacket is standing at a classroom board, on which symbols from Jean-Michel Basquiat’s paintings are drawn in chalk. In this painting, the myth of painting as an island or oasis created by the artist is further developed. But this time the viewer is driven to doubt if this local oasis is represented by a piece of clothing speckled with exotic ornaments, Basquiat’s drawings, or everything at once.
