About Barbara Kassel

Barbara Kassel paints a visual diary of interiors and landscapes. Her realistic depictions of interior objects and attempts to document the passage of time become an autobiographical narrative as she travels to new spaces and landscapes. Working with oil on panel, she captures both natural and synthetic light, adopting unusual vantage points and cropping techniques. Kassel pays particular attention to the small details of an inhabited interior, rendering used paper, filled glasses, strewn clothing, and partially drawn curtains.
