About Beau Chamberlain

In his lush, semi-abstract landscapes, Beau Chamberlain focuses on the bi-coastal urban and natural environments in which he has lived, and the way they have shaped his experiences and memories. In his words, “Initially inspired by my own transition from the Pacific Northwest to…New York City, I have tried to incorporate themes from my own life experiences to help draw a parallel between our selves and the larger environments we inhabit.” Working with acrylic on wood panels, he paints fragmented, patterned forms suggesting sea creatures, underwater plants, and the craggy sea bottom, as well as insects, spider webs, flowers, and tree branches. They stretch and burst across brightly colored backgrounds, seeming to thrive and decay simultaneously. Chamberlain gives his compositions loosely narrative titles, like Apartment Living or Starting Tomorrow, hinting at the symbiosis between himself and his surroundings.
