Painted en plein-air, on the street where the Grenning Gallery lives; Washington Street, Sag Harbor. Ben Fenske's loose painterly interpretation of our familiar habitat is almost ironic. In a village where hedges must be trimmed and lawns manicured; the hamptons' are known for their pristine landscapes, inhabited by those with an exceptionally refined taste. However, Fenske caught an essence of disorder; leaning electrical poles with twisting power lines, a barely painted sky, blunt strokes to depict buildings. A brutal yet sweet interpretation of the village of Sag Harbor.
