About Ben Venom

Ben Venom is best known for taking imagery from traditional craft arts and juxtaposing it with modern imagery that draws attention to the fringes of society. “My work can be described as opposing forces colliding at lightening speed,” Venom has said. “Imagery found in vintage tattoos, the occult, and motorcycle gangs are stitched together with recycled materials using techniques usually relegated to your grandmother’s sewing circle.” Venom, who coined his name in the Georgia punk scene of the ’90s when he was an admirer of bands such as Slayer, Metallica, and Fugazi, subverts gender stereotypes by working in a traditionally female sphere.
