Beom Kim, ‘Paper Wrapped Sculptures’, 2016, STPI

In Paper Wrapped, where Kim affixes paper pulp to everyday products purchased at a supermarket, such as chocolate bars, cup noodles and stain removers to create a series of sculptures. Stripped of key visual cues, these ordinary and recognizable items transfigure into ambiguous forms and are perceived as abstract sculptures which suggest different visual associations for each viewer based on their definition and recognition of an object. It is a profound statement on the subjectivity of human perception.

Sold in a set of 14 objects.
