Bill Anderson, ‘Counter Balance #2’, 2008, Wilding Cran Gallery

About Bill Anderson

Over the course of his career, Bill Anderson has tested the technical capabilities of a variety of photographic mediums. In the span of 25 years, Anderson has worked with traditional, large-format photography, as well as less conventional photographic printmaking processes, such as gum bichromate, cyanotypes, and platinum prints. More recently, the artist has cultivated an interest in digital photography and its particular abilities to evoke depth and flatness in space. The compositions in these new works are often aggregations of varying images of a single subject—landscapes, figures, and street scenes—such that the picture is both recognizable and abstract.

Canadian, b. 1952, Edinburgh, United Kingdom, based in Vancouver, Canada
