bravo!, ‘Nº 6 "Tacitas Stones, The Chamber Collection"’, 2015, Chamber

Named for the enormous, indigenous stones found in Chile’s Enchanted Valley, out of which communities of pre-Columbian peoples chiseled holes for both practical and spiritual purposes thousands of years ago, bravo!’s sculpted vessels were crafted from smooth, rounded river stones discovered in the Andes Mountains.

While the exterior surface textures of the stones have not been altered, the collection’s precise, geometric finishes were achieved through a combination of manual processes and new technologies. Creating a bridge between natural and manmade processes, the “Tacitas Stones” speak to an ancient phenomenon in a contemporary design language.
