About Burt Glinn

After serving in the Army and studying literature at Harvard, Burt Glinn began his career at Life magazine before eventually branching out on his own. Glinn gained recognition for his color series on the South Seas, Japan, Russia, Mexico, and California, as well as for documenting important political events, including Fidel Castro’s invasion of Cuba. Of his process, Glinn said, “what you've got to do is discover the essential truth of the situation, and have a point of view about it.”

American, 1925-2008, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, based in New York
