Choi Byung-So, ‘Untitled’, 2011, Gallery Date

Choi ByungSo mainly chooses, for the medium of his work, newspaper and the ballpoint pen, both of which are everyday objects, rather than the canvas and paint. With a pan, he repeatedly draws on the newspaper that is full of printed words, adding layer after layer countless times, and even erasing traces of the pen with the use of a pencil, until the pitch dark monochrome surface of a newspaper is all that is left before him.
