Cameron Martin’s recent works are intimately scaled abstract compositions revisiting the legacy and language of op art. Operating halfway between the technologized grid and the glitch, Diaphine interrogates conditions of perception by turning the systematized application of paint into a procedure yielding impressive optical effects—exploring the capacities of a gradient of warm tones to evoke at once, through their linear conjunctions, a lattice- or textile-like pattern and contemporary media. –Courtesy of The Kitchen

Cameron Martin works primarily in painting and drawing, exploring productions of image making, specifically through large-scale landscape-based painting. Recently, he departed from this practice, which he exercised for fifteen years, to create compositions of line drawings that inspect perception and the optical textures of textile patterning. Martin has had solo exhibitions at Van Doren Waxter, The Suburban, James Harris Gallery, and was part of the 2004 Whitney Biennial.
