Dimensions | Esculpture: 23 x 23 x 23 cm Drawing: 35 x 27 cm
Found in the garden of a stone sculpturer, this piece was almost ready. He said he also found it and that it was part of a
building or a mausoleum, but he doesn’t remember. I took it and reduced its dimension by making three cuts, shaping a semi
cube and leaving the original carvings. Then I polished the three sides to reveal the black marble as a surface that suggests
a continuity. Within this simple action, the history behind this piece is forgotten and left behind to be replaced by another
one, my story. In this process I’m interested in searching for existing things that aren’t a sculpture and that can have potential
to become one by transforming it with simple modifications.
