Carlos Puyol, ‘without title’, 2012, PontArte

Carlos Puyol has been working and living in Barcelona for over 15 years, he dedicates himself fully to painting and he uses no other means to express his ideas.

His works have been influenced by many artists such as: Van Gogh, Matisse, Jasper Johns and Willem de Kooning.

Carlos Puyol's works are abstract paintings that can be described as a combination of abstract expressionism and Pop Art. They are an explosion of colors and shapes that gives an instant sensation of vitality to the viewer.

Carlos Puyol does not believe that inspiration is the key to a work of art, he thinks you simply need to work hard, really hard on a painting and this initiates the process of creation. For him, the best place to work is his studio. There is nothing to distract him, the world around him disappears this way he is able to seek in his unconscious which allows him to paint the invisible part of himself.

His first exhibition was held in Buenos Aires in 1994. Since then, his works have been exhibited in France, Sweden, New York and Spain.
