Charles Eckart, ‘Untitled’, 1971, Osceola Gallery

Charles Eckart is one of the most intriguing and maybe the best painter I know of. His paintings are so rich and deep one almost wants a magnifying glass to explore into their core. He developed his sensibility growing up in Yosemite Valley and allowing this gorgeous scene of nature to work on his painterly style. Very abstract figures and landscapes populate his canvasses and invite emotional responses.
He is in many private and public collections, the Oakland, Crocker, Triton, Yosemite, and Bolinas Museums, as well as SFMOMA, Stanford, and the Smithsonian.
