Chelsea Dean, ‘From the series "Salvation Likely Will Come," Ambassador College V’, 2014, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions: Benefit Auction 2017

Framed: 21 x 28 in.

I’m a Los Angeles-based artist whose work revolves around glimpses of passing perfection that can fly by in an instant or fade over decades. I salvage history, suspending architecture of Southern California in time with a process of carefully controlled chaos. By combining my photographs with printmaking, drawing, and collage techniques, I elevate the conflict between order and entropy while inserting balance into the work. With an eye for both the subtle and mysterious qualities of nature and the enticing and elegant power of architecture, I invoke an arsenal of techniques to meditate upon the allure of beauty and decay.
