Chris Duncan, ‘Basement Window-Building 945-Headlands Center for the Arts (10 month exposure)’, 2016, Headlands Center for the Arts: Benefit Auction 2017

Chris Duncan (Artist in Residence ’16) is an Oakland-based artist who employs repetition and accumulation as a basis for experiments in visual and sound-based media. An overarching theme in his current works is the use of natural forces—such as the sun, the moon, and the ocean—as conceptual and compositional prompts for both visual and sonic efforts. The work presented for auction was made while Duncan was an Artist in Residence at Headlands Center for the Arts in 2016. Duncan earned his BFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts and his MFA in Art Practice from Stanford University.
