“I focus on the love that I have been fortunate enough to experience in this life and connect to the beauty of those experiences when I create my paintings,” says Los Angeles-based street artist Christina Angelina. She paints and spray-paints canvases, developing punky images that imaginatively depict alternative models of living, such as those experienced by outsider groups at Burning Man or among California’s outpost communes. Angelina is known to paint at live events, such as raves and outdoor festivals, bringing art into the public sphere to be engaged with as it emerges. She has also created window displays for Neiman Marcus. Her use of vibrant colors and extravagant figuration recalls work by Tom Wesselmann, and other street artists like ROA.
