A true heir to the French tradition of design and craftsmanship, Christopher Côme was raised in the artistic family of a renowned ceramicist and illustrator. His practice was influenced greatly by French sculptor Louis Derbe, who taught Côme the technique of casting bronze. Initially Côme was intrigued by jewelry design, but soon after began exploring furniture forms in his practice. His work is reminiscent of various mediums, from architectural wrought ironwork to contemporary sculpture to objects found in nature. His textured process incorporates materials as malleable as the designs themselves, cleverly balancing austere grandeur with a modern sensibility.
