Claus Goedicke, ‘Spiegel’, 2010, SAGE Paris

About Claus Goedicke

A one-time student of Bernd Becher, Claus Goedicke takes straight-on, vibrantly colored, and impeccably composed still life photographs. His subject matter reveals a preoccupation with consumer culture: plastic bottles, household implements, and groceries, all photographed against flat, colorful backgrounds to draw attention to their form. In its frontal directness, glossy sheen, and precise lighting, Goedicke’s work recalls the visual language of advertising. He has recently developed a unique form of displaying his photographs in which he collages them digitally with patterns and graphics into a form of “wallpaper”.
