Clayton Calvert, ‘Borghese Gladiator’, 2014, Watermill Center Summer Benefit Auction 2016

Clayton Calvert is bewitched by the tactile power of material, color, texture, and form. Across a variety of mixed media, he seeks to embody the space between representation and abstraction when contemplating his subjects. Borghese Gladiator (2014) pairs a watercolor background with a powerfully posed human figure depicted in a precious metal. Calvert’s works have been displayed at Art Basel Miami Beach, the Edward Hopper House Art Center, New York, and the National Arts Club, New York.

Please note: An additional framing cost of $130.00 will be applied to the purchase price of the artwork.
