About Cliff Evans

Cliff Evans’ digital animations and photomontages are combinations of thousands of images culled from the internet, which simultaneously recall 15th-century Northern European altarpieces, Old Masters paintings, and the narratives of contemporary advertising and popular culture. He often relies on humor to investigate the relationship between power and population control, particularly through the use of absurd juxtapositions—wellness tourism and missionary practice alongside military attacks, for instance. These continuously looping animations are set to original soundtracks and function as immersive experiences too detailed to be absorbed in a single viewing.
