About Cosima von Bonin

Cosima von Bonin is known for her large-scale, mixed-media installations that frequently incorporate textiles and oversize stuffed animals, drawing from popular- and vernacular culture. Embracing an approach that incorporates both absurdity and humor, the artist explores ideas like play, improvisation, indoctrination, gender stereotype, and fatigue, as in her "Lazy Susan" series, rotating spherical platforms topped with objects such as the artist's Purple Sloth Rabbit (2010), a reclining rabbit stuffed animal with the word “Sloth” embroidered on its feet.
