About Cristina Iglesias

Cristina Iglesias challenges the vocabulary of Minimalist sculpture through immersive architectural installations using facades, screens, cast walls, and constructions meant to act as “skin”. Her installations transform galleries into immense labyrinths of dream, fiction, literary allusion, and chiaroscuro, enigmatic and yet highly evocative of the tradition of Islamic architecture in Spain. Iglesias makes her screens from weaved metals, resin, bronze, and other traditional sculptural materials, yet she usually hangs them from the ceiling and walls, giving them an improbable lightness.
