Confitebor Tibi belongs to Damien Hirst’s "Psalm" print series. The compositions in this series derive from the famous larger gloss paintings with butterfly kaleidoscopic collages.

  The Latin subtitle Confitebor tibi (meaning “praise to you”), is a summary of Psalm 9, which begins: “I will give thanks to you, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all your marvelous works” (Psalms 9:1 King James Version). Interestingly, however, Hirst’s subtitle does not accord with any line in the text – it appears to be the artist’s own invention. Confitebor tibi does not in any case appear in the Vulgate translation, the standard Latinate Bible.
