About Dan Rizzie

Dan Rizzie's multifaceted mixed-media pieces have established him as one of the most successful collage artists of the 20th century. His works may contain layers of newspaper, paint, wax, or dirt, and he often incorporates filigree, historic decorative patterns, and bold botanic imagery: a signature motif is graphic silhouettes of birds or flowers cast in front of decorative, abstract patterns. While his artistic sources are vast, Rizzie’s compositions are unified and explore traditional imagery in contemporary application.

American, b. 1951, Poughkeepsie, New York, based in Sag Harbor, New York
