About the work
Daniel Acosta
Brazilian, b. 1965
Follow

With wit and whimsy, Daniel Acosta creates hybrid works between architectural units and art objects. He aims for “multifunctional availability,” producing works that can be utilized for practical functions—like sitting, working, or holding books—and appreciated as aesthetic objects. Cavurba (2010), for example, is a freestanding shelter-sculpture. With blue fluorescent lighting and benches running the length of its undulating walls, Cavurba may be used as a resting place and contemplated as a sculptural installation, perhaps at the same time.
