Stunning self portrait, rife with ambiguity. Exceptional use of architectural details, and classical use of light.
(b.1968, Kingston, ON) Well known for his sensitive and thoughtful portraits, this is an excellent example of Daniel Hughes' work. Hughes expresses great emotion and contemplation in this emotionally charged self portrait.

He has had solo shows throughout Canada, England and the US, and was part of a prestigious group show at The National Portrait Gallery in London (2005). He was shortlisted for the British Portrait Prize in 2012, and was shortlisted for the Canadian Portrait Prize in 2015.
