About David Linn

David Linn’s photorealistic paintings address metaphysical themes, typically depicting ambiguous events set within landscapes. Rendered in sepia tones, Linn’s paintings feature desiccated, rocky environments filled with contorted figures reaching toward the sky, or atmospheric imagery such as clouds or swathes of fabric blowing in the wind. The settings are inspired by Linn’s surroundings in Utah, which have been the site of many spiritual experiences for the artist. “Since you can't paint a spiritual experience, you can only allude to principles which lead to those things,” Linn has said.
