One of a series of contemporary, abstract, wall-mounted steampunk boxes that slides to reveal two sides (male and female). This side-by-side warm toned, “history vault” features relics from the Victorian era including nineteenth-century photographs, handwritten letters, a telegram, early sewing artifacts, and other antique keepsakes and mementos. It is left up to viewers’ imaginations to create their own intimate history of the relationship between these two anonymous personages from a bygone era. Condition report: Time-worn

Signature: Signed on back of box.

David Random’s work has been featured in several museums and many galleries. It has also been featured on TV and most recently in the movie “Rocketship” which has been screened nationwide including a 10-month stint on Virgin Airways in-flight movies. Widely known as “Rocketman” for his steampunk rocketship creations, Random now branches out into his series of “Hidden History Vaults” which assemble relics from the past in tidy antique wooden boxes preserving their stories for other generations. The common thread running through virtually all of Random’s work is his use of antique artifacts assembled together to form a new aesthetic.
