Seymour was perhaps best known for his portraits of actress, like Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman. This iconic series of a young Sophia Loren was shot at her home in Italy.
Reproducing the original without alteration and enlarged to a 16"x20" paper size, these Magnum Contacts offer a unique insight into the methods by which our photographers produced some of their best known images, by clearly showing the sequence of frames and the marks of the editing process on each sheet.

About David Seymour
Renowned Polish photographer David Seymour (born Dawid Szymin) began his career in Paris in the 1930s and is best known for his images of the Spanish Civil War and for the UNICEF-commissioned project Children of War. With Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, George Rodger, and William Vandivert, Seymour co-founded Magnum Photos and served as its president from 1954 until 1956, when, traveling near the Suez Canal to cover a prisoner exchange, he was killed by Egyptian machine-gun fire.
