About Don Gale

Sculptor and draftsman Don Gale focuses on the human form in works that merge realism and imagination. In both his drawings and sculptures he features naturalistically rendered, nude male and female figures in all manner of poses, and with postures and countenances reflecting a rich array of psychological states. Speaking of his drawings, which both stand alone and inform his sculptures, he once said “They show the emotion that comes through the hand, and they also show something beyond the emotion; something unknown. And the core of creativity is the unknown.” In his bronze sculpture She’s Walking, a nude female figure walks along a highly polished plank; her inscrutable expression and unknown origin and destination lend this piece the air of mystery and wonder that Gale builds into all of his works.
