Donald Teskey was born in 1956 in Co Limerick, Ireland. He graduated from Limerick College of Art & Design with a Diploma in Fine Art in 1978 and was elected a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy in 2003. It is here that he will have a major retrospective exhibition in 2021.

He has undertaken several residencies including to the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, the Josef Albers Foundation, CT. USA, Swarthmore College, PA, and regularly to the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Co Mayo. His bibliography is extensive, often including collaborations with poets. It includes Profile 22, Donald Teskey – Tidal Narratives, published by Gandon Editions in 2005 to coincide with an exhibition at Limerick City Gallery of Art and in 2010, The Idea of Islands with Sue Hubbard, published by Occasional Press.

Teskey’s work has entered numerous collections in Ireland, including, National Library of Ireland, Dublin, The Arts Council of Ireland, Irish Museum of Modern Art, Limerick City Art Gallery, The Contemporary Irish Arts Society, The Office of Public Works, Allied Irish Banks, and in the USA: New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell, Swarthmore College, PA, Yale University Art Gallery, CT.
