Dorothy Simpson Krause' "Miss Mollie" is a 24 x 30 inch vitreographic transfer from her 1998 heArtland portfolio executed at Littleton Studios, Spruce Pine, NC. In this piece the artist scanned an image of Harvey Littleton's aunt with a page from her journal. The digital file was flipped horizontally in 3M Cactus RIP and printed on an Encad Novajet Pro using Encad's clear film and graphic outdoor (GO) ink. Using a waterless planographic process that Littleton pioneered, Krause created a landscape by painting with water based media on a glass plate. The painting on glass was masked with silicon and cured. The image on clear film was transferred to 30 x 36 inch damp Rives BFK using a 40 x 70 inch French Tool etching press. In a second pass, the vitreographic plate was inked and printed over the digital transfer or digigraph.

Krause is a painter, collage artist and printmaker who incorporates digital mixed media into her art. She is deeply inspired by nature, travel, and innovative art making processes. Her work is exhibited regularly in galleries and museums, and is featured in numerous current periodicals and books. Krause is Professor Emeritus at Massachusetts College of Art where she founded the Computer Arts Center and is a member of Digital Atelier®, an artists collaborative. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and symposia and is a consultant for manufacturers and distributors of products which may be used by fine artists.

This work is presented in a 33.25 x 39.25 x 2 inch maple frame
