Edgar Arceneaux, ‘Morgan Fisher's Peugot 01/06/06 (photo collage) and Dispersion of a Unified Field (video)’, 2006-2007, CalArts Benefit

Arceneaux is interested in the intersection of artistic processes, like drawing and photography, with psychology, physics, and philosophy. He favors non-linear narratives, as in this pseudo-scientific documentation of fellow artist Morgan Fisher’s car.

About Edgar Arceneaux

Edgar Arceneaux is interested in the accidental associations the mind assembles between unlikely topics, and summarizes his practice simply as a pursuit of “a different way to construct relationships between things.” He frequently manipulates existing or new systems, methods of cataloging, and visualizations of the passage of time. One of his most famous works is the ongoing “Drawings of Removal”, begun in 1999, in which Arcenaux constantly draws over, erases, cuts apart, and re-assembles a set array of drawings each time the project is exhibited. More recently, the culture and social history of Detroit has been the germ of several series, which serve as an allegory to past instances of urban violence and desolation.
